A game by Cameron Prigge (Distant Dimensions) and Benjamin Prigge (Lit Lore)

Made for the thatgamecompany × COREBLAZER GAME JAM 2025
Theme: Generosity

Game Description:

Our game, You're not welcome to Rennville, is a cozy dialogue driven story adventure, with some platforming sections. Everything graphics, music, programming etc. (except for a few sound effects sourced from Soundly) were made in the game jam timeframe by a team of two brothers.

While we didn't get to polish the game as much as we'd like, we're still proud of what we were able to achieve. This is the first project my brother and I have collaborated on, so we'd really apricate feedback! Hope you enjoy!

Controls:

A and D or the Left and Right arrows to move

W or Up arrow to jump

Spacebar to attack and advance dialogue

E to interact (when prompted by the game)

I to look at inventory

Esc to exit in the downloadable version

Bugs:

There are a few bugs we know of, mostly not game breaking, but please feel free to report any in the comments as we're hoping to update the game after the jam judging period has ended.

The game has a very clear end with credits... so if you're wondering if you've finished, but you can still run around, the adventure isn't over yet! We really hope people get to the end, because we're very proud of the ending, but please note the game doesn't save so you have to play it in one go.

I just finished the adventure and I still can't believe that such a two persons project could have seen the light of day in such a short time. Here we have a magnificent game rich in gameplay variety: adventure, platform, narrative, everything is there to make this story come to life in the most beautiful way. The pixel-art graphics are splendid and teeming with animations. The music is very successful. The levels are very well designed. This game runs smoothly for the greatest pleasure of the player. A very beautiful story that knew how to take advantage of the imposed themes, while offering something unique. I loved it. Thank you for this gift that you are offering here.

Thank you so much for playing and for the kind words! We really enjoyed making this game and story, so we're glad you enjoyed it!

Wow, what an amazing game! I didn't expect all this at all from a game created for a game jam! I didn't manage to play the whole game since I am so bad with platformers, but I guess - hopefully - that I can watch some playthrough for the rest of the story. You two created something amazing, and I am a little bit envious that you have a brother who you can collaborate with for developing a game. Soooo nice.

Thank you so much for playing, I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Yes, it was very nice to collaborate with my brother, we managed to achieve so much more than I would have been able to alone!

This reminded me of Thimbleweed park. I liek the overall story and the progression. The controls are kinda hard and i got stuck in the tower for so long trying to go up lol but I managed it.

Overall, a really nice complete and impressive game!

Thanks for playing, glad you managed to beat the tower! I haven't played Thimbleweed Park, but we were inspired by other adventure games.

I finished it and really liked it. It's been difficult though! Playing a platformer game with keyboard + the choice of the jump button didn't help me, but I did it. The game is not too short, not too long, just great with a nice story. The atmosphere is unique. The 2d gameplay can remind of the old Castlevania games (the stairs, entering houses...) and classic platformers. The level design is good, even though the challenging parts can be hard all of a sudden (climbing the tower!). At some points I thought to give up because it seemed impossible to me, but somehow I managed to continue. I also had a hard time feeding the cat: I thought there was an issue with the game preventing me from giving the tuna box, but it was actually closed, and I needed another inventory item to continue. So there is a bit of an adventure game feeling too! The ending is touching, going from sad to happy end. Very nice game! Took me about 30 minutes to do the whole run. Be careful that there is no save menu, so don't quit if you want to try to see the end.

Thank you for playing and the feedback! We definitely want to update the game after the jam has been judged, so we'll try think of ways to improve any issues.

I've been able to try it out a bit, and it's impressive! 👏

The pixel art, the animations, the characters, the sound effects... are all brilliant, and the concept is super cool!

You've done an excellent job in such a short time!
